Once again, Chicago White Sox Manager Ozzie Guillen has opened his mouth and publicly criticized his players after a 3-2 loss in 13 innings. Guillen apparently thought his players, particularly Alex Rios, played poorly and didn’t deserve to win the game. This is not even close to the first time Guillen has engaged in a profanity-laced tirade about the perceived inadequacies of his players. In my opinion, its counter-productive, unprofessional and an embarrassment.
Guillen, like every other manager in baseball, should handle his problems with his players in house. He shouldn’t purposely seek out the media in an effort to simply hear his own voice on the radio at the expense of his guys. I’ve already taken some flack on this site for criticizing Ozzie but I think he’s a blow-hard who doesn’t know when to keep his mouth shut. If I was a player and a free-agent there is very simply zero chance I would sign with the White Sox or any team Guillen was in charge of. I’m frankly surprised that the Sox haven’t had problems with guys not wanting to play for Ozzie. I don’t like Ozzie Guillen’s style of managing or leading and I don’t like Ozzie.
