Dolphins training camp underway with some surprises

The past couple of days have seen the Dolphins run drills, reporters do I told you so commentary about Tannehill to Wallace, and finally the defensive line’s ownership of the offensive line.

Based on observations the past couple of days, Cam Wake can still play at a high level. Wake, who takes impeccable care or his body has the physique to prove it.

Damien Williams, is starting to show why GM Dennis Hickey took a chance on a year deal with him. He can catch, run, and his speed is what’s created a headache for the Dolphins cornerbacks.

Brent Grimes did some punt coverage today. Grimes didn’t serve on special teams last season and the thought of having him play special teams, intrigues and scares most fans at the same time.

Ryan Tannehill and Mike Wallace inconsistently connect on several deep balls. Surely, this is about getting the kinks out right? Didn’t Wallace and Tannehill work in the offseason when no one else was watching?

The offensive line continues to be a doormat to the defensive line’s prowess. Newly signed Darryn Colledge has been underwhelming. He’s been beat badly in one on ones.
Rookie Ja’Wuan James looks like a rookie on the right side and Dallas Thomas has looked overwhelmed.

There is a light at the end of the tunnel and some positive news, kicker Caleb Sturgis was money yesterday.

With that, here’s hoping the Dolphins camp practice with pads tomorrow proves what kind of team we have.
