So the 7 Catholic Schools are upset that they didn’t have enough voice on the football side of the conference conversations. Well that is what happens when you don’t have a football team and the conference gives you welfare because of it because you cry so much.
As a Catholic I find the action and jumping up and down by these schools not just hypocritical but ludicrous all at the same time. Frankly it’s time to send these small schools back to where they belong into the shadows. This is possibly the best thing for the conference over the long haul.
First off the treachery in which these schools behaved in their first attempts to dissolve the conference then run of with its name is shameful at the very least anti-Catholic at its worst and as a Catholic I’m offended to no ends and hopeful the administrators of these schools are kept from receiving communion until some serous confessions are made with a million hail Mary’s. Now that their attempt yesterday to persuade football member schools to follow their stupid lead failed they have dropped their pants and have put themselves in a corner certainly pride (a bad sin in the Catholic Faith) will now take over and force them to leave which will have two long term results.
Every so often members of the church body lay down with the devil and the devil here is ESPN . ESPN’s parent company Disney is the devil incarnate on this earth and the product and activities of ESPN’s executives daily display the devils work. ESPN has been on a no holds bar daily full court press to devaluing the BE for almost a year now while dealing unfairly with the BE. ESPN’s efforts to steal the last remaining large conference for pennies on the dollar TV deals have only accelerated since their exclusive contract negotiations ended. Every day since ESPN has pushed doom and gloom for the BE. ESPN’s efforts to publically undermine the BE causes one to wonder just what are they up to behind the scenes. And now when any reasonable person looks at this latest affront to the conference in regards to these Catholic schools one has to wonder just what were these small poor schools thinking?
Did they really believe they could dissolves the conference then run off with its name and brand? And if so where in the hell did they get that idea from?
Yesterday every writer from ESPN was full court on this the BE was done the Catholic 7 were going to take the conference name and go to bed with ESPN and TV deals? But oh that didn’t happen!
So here we are today some bullshit being run out by the little demons at ESPN but nothing has changed well that’s not entirely true now is it. Nope what we know now is the Catholic 7 got left out cold sure they are free to leave with nothing zero zip nodda, yet they haven’t nope they are still members. Now they have to get with their lawyers to see what can be done LOL more of Lucifer’s agents no doubt. The Catholic 7 unlike the schools that have left for the B1G ACC and Big 12 had no landing ground they over played their hand and now have left a very bad taste in the mouth of the power members of the BE the Football schools. They have no one but themselves to blame lay down with the devil and surely you will get burned. During this time of Lent for these Catholic schools to be playing this game is frankly sinful and again as a Catholic I am ashamed.
Despite all my above remarks let me be clear the departure of the Catholic 7 would be a good thing for the conference even more so now then every before. No doubt the relationship with the other members now is on very rocky ground and now that the power grabbing attempt failed the Catholic schools have put themselves in a very bad position certainly they will attempt as they do leave to put the best possible spin on it they can and no doubt ESPN will be there doing its best to spread such propaganda because they want the Catholic 7 to think they have their best interest at heart, however I can hear the conversations now between the leaders of the failed putsch and ESPN executives C7”we were unable to secure the conference name my master but we still want that TV deal with you” ESPN” sorry that deal is dead without the conference branding we’ll have to start over, what would you might call your new conference” C7” We were thinking The Catholic Conference?” ESPN” oh that will not do as our master Disney is all about secularism and might even require you to drop your schools association with the Catholic Church altogether” C7 “ oh my what have we done?” Stupid is what stupid does and again getting rid of basketball only schools advances the idea of a nationwide conference.
For schools such as Boise State and other perspective new combers say Fresno Nevada and or UNLV being able to be all sports is just as important in the long run as moving up to better overall conference competition. So long as there was a voice against this expansion across the nation by these basketball only schools the course would continue to long and drawn out. The Big East a year ago started down the road to becoming a Nationwide conference the first and only of its kind. The fact is that is the only way any conference outside the big 4 can make it and the BE is the only one that has shown this vision and this over all is a massive threat to those conference we all love to hate the AQ’s as we call them now. They who covet all the money with no desire to share. Greed consumes conference like the B1G and SEC a greed shared by ESPN and Disney and in this they see a Nationwide BE as a major threat to the pot of money they have always intended to keep for themselves.
For those out there who talk non-sense about how Boise State should stay in the MWC I understand for some of you it’s because you are scared of growth you would prefer to stay in a weak conference so Boise State can continue to beat up on weaker schools well I got some bad news for you, that won’t happen nor would it work out that way. For one the type of recruits we would get would eventually drop even bellow what we got in the past and certainly coach Pete would finally leave as he hasn’t remained at Boise State to not build something special and remain flat but to grow and build and this is what has attracted new recruits to Boise State a vision towards the future not one built around the past! Secondly even a BE without all the schools that have left is twice as strong as the MWC our S.O.S. doubles next year greatly increasing our chances of getting a nice bowl game next year you know something other than the Maaco bowl? Thirdly the money is not even close and finally as many have pointed out the travel is actually less this first year in the BE then it was this year in the MWC. I might add as coach Pete pointed out 2 years ago we fly to games today so what another 30 minutes in the big scheme of things.
Inclosing I will say be gone good riddance Catholic 7 take your anchor from our necks and depart from us as you apparently are more a part of the problem and not part of the solution!
As for Bronco Nation fear not as Bob Kostra will lead not just Boise State but the BE into a brighter future then you can possibly imagine and this is why they all the detractors fear us so much they fear we will take their money and glory and they are damn straight right to fear us because we are coming for the glory our glory .
