Dynamo Unbeaten Streak Reaches 5 Games

The Houston Dynamo extended their unbeaten streak to five games after getting a late goal from Bobby Boswell to earn a 1-1 draw with the Chicago Fire. The tie also extended Chicago’s winless streak to four games.

Bobby Boswell got Houston's equalizer

Chicago took the lead early in the game when the Houston defense was unable to clear a loose ball. Corey Ashe, still new at playing defender, failed to control the ball on the edge of the box and Fire forward Diego Chaves was there to gather it. Chaves drove into the box and fired a shot past Houston goalkeeper Tally Hall in the 18th minute. The Dynamo nearly equalized just minutes later when rookie forward Will Bruin chipped a ball towards the goal from near the end line. His shot was headed towards the six yard box but was cleared by Chicago defender Yamith Cuesta.

The Dynamo came out hungry in the second half and nearly equalized again when midfielder Lovell Palmer slammed a shot from outside the box off the post in the 47th minute. Chicago had a couple of great opportunities to add a second and bury the Dynamo but failed to find the net. The first came when Baggio Husidic blasted over the crossbar on a great chance at the penalty spot. The second came when former Dynamo former Dominic Oduro got behind the Houston defense and his shot beat Tally Hall but not the crossbar as it bounced off the woodwork.

The Dynamo finally broke through and got their goal in the 83rd minute. Brad Davis whipped in a corner from the right side and Boswell headed it back to the near post and into the net. Boswell’s header looked like it may have been helped by a Fire player but Boswell took credit for the goal and peeled off in celebration securing Houston another road point.

Houston will next be in action on Friday night at Robertson Stadium as they host DC United. The game can be seen on Fox Soccer Channel.
