A game in which the statistics weren’t eye popping or unbelievable, but a game nonetheless of skill and back and forth action ultimately lied within Boston College’s hands with a 36-30 victory over the Maryland Terrapins (6-7).

Coach Steve Addazio has received harsh criticism over the past couple years for the lack of winning conference games and having zero offense performing each week. Ultimately with a win against NC State this year and winning the Quick Lane Bowl against Maryland, silencing the critics is what Addazio has done for the remaining part of the season. Quarterbacks have also been a question each and every year with an upcoming slot on the squad for this year from the departure of Patrick Towles, a grad student who transferred over from the University of Kentucky. Finding a stable quarterback who can contribute over the course of 4 years or just a few years is what the Eagles mostly need to get the offense rolling and moving down the field.

In this win in particular, Towles went for 151 yards passing on 10 for 22 completions with 2 scores and a pick to wrap up his individual collegiate career and wrapping up another season of Boston College football. On the ground, sophomore running back Jon Hilliman worked the Terps defense with 29 carries for 79 yards and a score. Seniors Myles Willis and Tyler Rouse ended their respective collegiate careers with a combined 75 yards in the bowl game today, but bright futures are ahead for these two guys. On the defensive side of the ball, eight combined sacks for the Eagles stands out as impressive, but we all know what they were capable of doing by living up to the hype.

Defensive star Harold Landry finishes up the 2016 season with 16.5 sacks, a truly impressive feat for a junior edge rusher, who has faced some of the toughest competition through all of the FBS and collected his first interception all year. Along with Landry, defensive presences such as Zach Allen, Matt Milano and Josh Johnson have all contributed to the success of Boston College defense.

The NFL Draft is coming up shortly and players like Josh Johnson, Matt Milano and Harold Landry have earned a reputation of having unique gifts that can translate somehow into the NFL so look out for those names on draft boards.
