Edna Kiplagat, who is 37, has now won the Boston, London, and New York City Marathons. She has completed the trifecta of marathons! The conditions were near perfect in the low 70’s and a slight breeze.

Kiplagat dominated the marathon as she pulled ahead midway through and did not let up until she crossed the finish line on Boylston. She finished in 2 hours, 21 minutes, 52 seconds.

“When I was running, my body was feeling good,” said Kiplagat, who was greeted at the finish line by two of her children. “I tried to push more, hard and I saw my (rivals) were not picking up the pace.”

Geoffrey Kirui won for the elite men’s and he battled it out all race long with American Galen Rupp who lead the pack back in Newton But Rupp was passed on mile 23 and could never catch up as he finished the day in second place.

“The wind is so important,” Hug said. “The roads were good. Everything was fantastic today.” It is hard to say anything went wrong when you ran the marathon in just 2 hours 9 minutes and 37 seconds.
