The NFL Network has completed their latest series to help football fanatics get through the offseason lull before training camp. In this series, they are analyzing their Top 50 Fantasy Football Players.
If you’re wondering if any Cowboys made their list, I can tell you Dez Bryant came in at #11 and Ezekiel Elliott came in at #9.
If you missed the discussion, you can take a look here.
There were other backs ahead of Zeke, and those running backs were:
- Adrian Peterson, Vikings #8
- David Johnson, Cardinals #6
- Todd Gurley, Rams #5
- Le’Veon Bell, Steerlers #2
That is pretty good company considering what those players have done in the league thus far. Take a look at their Top 10 here. So, the question becomes — would you draft Elliott in the 1st round?
If your strategy is to load up with running backs early, then I would say yes, Zeke would have to be considered a high pick, and yes in the 1st round is completely legitimate option.
There’s a reason Elliott is being considered an instant impact player. A large part of that confidence comes from the Cowboys monstrous offensive line which produced big time yardage when DeMarco Murray won the rushing championship in 2014. The line also produced a 1,000 back with Darren McFadden last year.
The Cowboys have a centerpiece on offense with Elliott and that means a lot of touches and a lot of opportunities to rack up yards and TDs. Jason Garrett wants to get back to what the Cowboys do best, and if you draft Elliott you’ll surely reap the rewards in your league.
Drafting Zeke in the 1st round in your league may be considered a bold move by your opponents and you can expect some trash talk from non-Cowboys fans, but it’ll pay-off.
Camp is almost here and ready to see more of this:
