Penguins @ Islanders
Barclays Center – Brooklyn, NY
Nassau Coliseum (NYCB Live) – Uniondale, NY
7:00PM Eastern – AT&TSN | TVAS | SN | MSG+
The Penguins face an always- and recently-familiar foe as they round out their season series with the fourth of four games against the New York Islanders, and they do so in a not-as-recently but nostalgically familiar setting, the Nassau Coliseum out on the Island.
The Islanders will play 21 home games on Long Island this year as they await the construction of their new facility in Belmont Park, and this is the 2nd of those 21 contests. The Coliseum was one of the oldest venues in hockey, hosting some of the most memorable moments the NHL has seen. There’s a new look, as they’ve undergone some significant renovations, and although it won’t be the Isles’ permanent home, it’s a neat little story for a lot of the guys who grew up playing here (to include Mike Sullivan, too, in a neat little piece from the Post Gazette).
The Penguins got past the Islanders with a 6-goal effort last week for their first win of the season series, having dropped the first in regulation and the second in the shootout.
The Pens will look to extend their point streak, although their last outing was an overtime loss to the pesky Senators, who have had the Penguins’ number all year long.
The Penguins can move back into the top-3 in the convoluted Metropolitan Division with a win tonight.

The Isles have had their successes this year by playing a defensive postured style and that has worked in slowing down some of the heavily offensive teams in the division, with no exception for the Penguins:
“I’ve played them a lot of games where you feel like you’re dominating them and dominating, and all of a sudden, out they come and they cash in on a mistake or a poor decision. So you’ve got to limit your decisions, you’re going to have to get good goaltending, you’re going to have to make sure that you limit those mistakes. You limit the opportunities that they have in those areas and if you do, you’re going to have a chance.” – Barry Trotz, via NHL.com
