From the time he hit the gridiron in the professionals, the injury list is growing for tight end Rob Gronkowski, who has reportedly agreed to back surgery to fix a ruptured disk suffered supposedly against the Seahawks in Week 10. Gronkowski will miss approximately 8 weeks and the timetable of his return is questionable after the 8 weeks.
From last week against the Jets, Gronkowski was experiencing back difficulties on the field and eventually had to leave the game after a awkward fall that looked to of been the indicator of re-injuring the disk.
With the absence of arguably the best tight end in the NFL, the Patriots will have to go back to their strategies of who to plug into Gronk’s place. Could we see an increase of catches for Martellus Bennett or a bigger wide receiver core? The questions are looming but the Patriots will figure out ways to replace the tight end position.
