Free Agency is about to kickoff, and there’s word that Roy Williams could get the boot here in the coming days. While I’m all for us moving on and letting Roy Williams go, I’m not sure moving Henry to free safety is the answer. I don’t even think Henry has much more worth than Williams at this point. He’s just an average free agent we got stuck with, and he himself should be released too.
Chatter about moving Anthony Henry to FS is not going to work, and it would only be a stop gap. We need a real safety back there with Hamlin. The first thing that came to my mind in this whole move Henry to FS discussion is his durability. Seriously, the safety position requires more physical durabilty than the cornerback. Henry’s track record is well documented, he’s had trouble staying healthy playing corner, and you want to put him at a more physically demanding position of a safety. Good luck, we’ll be seeing Keith Davis by week 4 if not earlier. We need to draft a safety or pick up Leonhard from the Ravens. It needs to be addressed.
I’m ready to see Jenkins and Scandrick take over the corners spots, we already know these two guys will be the starters opposite each other in another year or two. Newman is another story, but his recent history of nagging injuries does not bode well for 2009.
