Mexico City is going to be interesting for both clubs (Celtics, Kings).
The Celtics, coming off a 10 point win over the Miami Heat, are starting a lengthy road trip that will consist of visiting Mexico City, San Antonio then New Orleans. Next Wednesday, they return home to face Jimmy Butler and the Chicago Bulls.
Here’s the outlook for the C’s for the upcoming road trip.
12/3 vs Sacramento- Two guys come to mind when the Kings are mentioned as of right now. C DeMarcus Cousins and PG Rajon Rondo are the two most efficient players for the Sacramento Kings as of right now. Cousins has the post game that will challenge the best of the best. Sullinger will need to keep Cousins off the boards (averaging 11 boards a game) but that may not be the case here. Cousins is coming off a three game absence with some injuries but returned against Dallas and dropped 31 points and took a good chunk of outside shots. If it is Sullinger or Johnson covering Boogie, keep him outside the paint at all times. Rondo on the other hand may have some difficulties against his former team. The C’s are fantastic in creating turnovers and Rondo does cough up the ball (3.6 turnovers a game approx.). Rondo is one of the craftiest players out there and he will create his own plays and his ridiculous passing abilities. Other players on the radar are Steph Curry’s brother, former Duke standout Seth Curry, who has been lights out shooting the previous games.
Other notable players- Ben McLemore, Kostas Koufos, Darren Collison, rookie PF Willie Cauley Stein.
12/5 @ Spurs- We know how the first time went around with Gregg Popovich and San Antonio Spurs. LaMarcus Aldridge poured a 24 point 14 rebound performance on Coach Stevens and the C’s at the Garden. Now it’s revenge for the C’s to get back at the Spurs. Jae Crowder will need to be on point Saturday to defend the rising superstar Kawhi Leonard from dropping buckets everywhere on the home court of San Antonio. Tim Duncan, the ageless wonder, is relentless and will come back and score in your face. If the C’s limit Aldridge taking shots from his typical mid range spot and limit Leonard from doing his all around thing and keeping Duncan off the boards for second chance opportunities, the C’s have a shot.
12/7 @ Pelicans- This team is very interesting even though they have a not so good record (4-14). We all know about what Anthony Davis does on the court. It’s whose after Davis that is a mystery. The Pelicans have two very talented guards that remind me of running backs (DOES THAT RING A BELL BOSTON HMM MARCUS SMART???) and they have a solid offensive game. Tyreke Evans is coming back and delivered in his first game (20 points 10 assists). Fellow guard Eric Gordon can also put the ball in the hoop as he has been covering for Evans as his statistics are quite impressive as well (18 games 17 points 2 rebounds and 3 assists per game).
