For those of you that do not know this already I live in Metro Detroit, and prior to this upcoming game the folks here in Michigan have treated me with happy faces and friendly comments about our beloved Bronco’s.Since the announcement of the Boise State MSU game slowly that has begun to change and yesterday I believe was a sign of just how close we are getting to the game. As is my custom when not out on business or other non-casual dress attire I’m pretty much a walking build board for Boise State as is my car. Yesterday was no different; as I walked into one of my venders I was meet with a chorus of hisses and learned one of the folks working behind the counter is a vandal (Yes I punished him hard). After a couple barbs traded one particular person decided to get nasty. Now I can get as low and as nasty as anyone and the fact that I have to do my utter best to attempt to stay up on as much as I can with college football allows me to be a bit more informed than most. This time however I decided to take the high road which to my surprise it worked.  I  simply responded to the hateful remarks “You know that’s why I love Hokie fans so much they were such great host.” That one sentence not only disarmed everyone there it put me above the fray as well allowed me in a pleasant way explain to all why MSU doesn’t have a chance to beat Boise State. Even the dUI grad toned it down.

As a card carrying member of Bronco Nation I will say our largest assets are our overall fan knowledge. I know of no other fan base as knowledgeable about their team and college football as a collective of the overall base. This is never more apparent when walking into a hostile crowd of the opposing teams fans. When I first walked in to the vendor yesterday one of the first hackles from the group was of course “surf turf” followed by insults to what conference we play in, I chuckled then said so MSU playing in all green on a green field is an advantage?? I followed with a basic fact the last 12 years top 25 final ranking 11 times sparty two? Then came the we have an elite 11 QB choir damnest thing is when I asked them what his name was no one knew, so I decided I would edumcate them by not only giving them Maxwell’s name but threw in he played for Midland Chemic’s and his last meaningful game he threw a pick six against Davison in the Michigan State playoff’s in a loss. I noticed before I even gave these facts out someone was busy on their Iphone searching for info and that same person then fired back that I was in fact mistaken as Maxwell had thrown a TD pass against Bama in the bowl game two years ago, I proceeded to challenge them on whether one you could consider that a meaningful game considering the arse whipping Bama put on Sparty? To add insult to injury I also said by that time Maxwell was playing 3rd stringers. Seeing the backs of the Sparty faithful slump a little bit I decided to go for the death blow and proceeded to run down a litany of unknown Boise State facts, such as everyone of Boise States OL has years’ worth of big game Starts , that we Have Gavin’s ,and Taylor with super Sophomore Hightower , two experienced 300lb’ers anchored at DT and Tyrone Crawford like JC Transfer as DE and a plethora of guys chomping at the bit to finaly get their chance to play on a D that was ranked 16 in the nation last year in total D and sent 6 into NFL camps this year. I added that one of the great benefits to blowing so many teams out is all the playing time reserves get before stepping into the roll as starters, when their turn comes making them that much further ahead of other teams replacement players especially at the start of a new season!

Of course they countered with no Kellen and that RB is gone as well, to which I replied you mean that slow non athletic weak armed QB? The one on the Lions now? Yeh he would be sorely missed, however as I ran throw the litany of the QB linage leading up to Moore making the point that Boise State just reloads when it comes to QB’s and the next one always seems to out preform the ones that came before them. I continued that true unlike MSU, Boise State has not settled on its QB of the future with highly recruited Nick Pati who passed on offers from Michigan to play at Boise State, who has been the most dominate QB in the State of Florida the last two years may very well be redshirted this year as Kellen was however Boise State Stable of QB besides Patti included a Senior with 18 game appearance who’s worked stead fastly in the system seems to be the leading candidate and while he can make all the throws as well a bit taller than Kellen and way more mobile, it’s his experience in the program with Coach Pete’s the only two time winner of the Bear Bryant award for being the best coach in the country only makes the fact that Boise is returning a receiving core that may very well be the best in the Nation with world class speed across the field and yeh that back thing, certainly Doug Martin is a beast and will have a long career in the NFL but D.J Harper is probably better and being granted a 6th year after spending his first year of complete health is ready to lead the way. Maybe I should of mentioned Drew and Ajayi but I could see in the eyes of many who had gathered around reality was beginning to set it, so I instead decided to go for the knockout blow, I pointed out MSU complete lack of depth and experience at WR, that their corners have bad hip’s and slow footed going up against a experience top speed receivers core that while MSU has some studs at LB and a possible set of book ends at DE Coach Pete will use his mastery to install a game plan that will render them useless. As for Mr. Bell well we’ve seen this all before in Blount, or the Dawgs big 250lber that was supposed to run over Boise State last year. When laying this all out I gave them a vision of the game MSU will do like every other team has tried start with the power running game to no effect and once behind resort to the passing game playing right in to Boise States strength, meanwhile Boise will execute its motion sets getting into the weak points of MSU’s D, attacking it with hurry up at the line huddles and pin point precision to first wear down MSU’s D then to take it’s heart out and leave them for dead on the field, it’s the Boise State way. With all summer camp to game plan for MSU, add in the total media bias and hype leading up to the game MSU players in the end will be no different then their fans base believing in an easy dispatch of Boise State only by the end of the game to find themselves out coached, and out preformed when the game is over which will be mid-way through the 3qt.

There is nothing like seeing another teams fan base as the reality starts to sink in and they’re skin color changes to a pale gray and they are left with only one response “well then this should be a great game” to which in the past to say a Hokie fan or a Dawg fan I would of said yes it should, but not to these b1g haters nope my reply was nope it’s going to be ugly and painful and the true reality is going to strike deep in the b1g fan base across the Midwest, Boise State is for real and it’s no longer a one trick poney.
