Making it in the NFL Draft process as a Division II receiver or defensive make usually takes some jaw-dropper performances and some great stats. Usually only a handful of Division II defensive backs get a look each year, and even fewer are drafted.
But this year, at Northwest Missouri State, their may be a cornerback who could not only be on the list of potential NFL Draft prospects, he could be a developmental guy who could start in the league in a few years. Ryan Jones is hoping that is the case.

Ryan said he had the “privilege” of playing on some great defenses, and really thanked the team’s “preparation and the pressure the defensive line provided.”
“I feel I had a really good coach, just like the FBS teams. My skills, I feel, are just as good as them. Overall, though, I do need to work on my technique, and I understand that.”
Ryan went to the Texas vs. Nation game where he got a chance to play consistently against top tier talent. He said “the fact that I can hang with them was great. The best guy I faced there was Ricardo Lockette [receiver from Fort Valley State].”
Still, despite having a solid week at the Texas vs. Nation game, starting 56 of 58 games in the past four years for his team, and finishing off his career with the school with six interceptions as a senior, Ryan still didn’t get an NFL Combine invite.
“it doesn’t both me much,” he said, and talked about how he will just focus on really showing up at his Pro Day.
“I need to work on having better reaction and technique overall. I feel like I’m going to run a 4.3, 4.4 forty time, and I’ll show how I’ve developed there as well [in front of NFL scouts].
It’s not easy for an NFL Draft prospect at cornerback to get drafted, but Ryan has the ability to do so, and we wish him luck.
