From a CFL standout to an All-Pro NFL sack master, we are all familiar with Cameron Wake's story. That being said despite being named an All-Pro last season, pilling up 15 sacks and adding 2 Pro Bowls to his belt, is Cam Wake still underrated?
In Cleveland Cam Wake started his season in style with 2.5 sacks and 6 QB hurries. PFF rated Wake the league’s best 4-3 LB last year and gave him a strong 7.8 grade to start the season. He has proved to be week in and week the best player on the field for the Dolphins and this past Sunday there was no debate he was the biggest stand out from either team. You can read what else Pro Football Focus had to say about Wake and the Dolphins, here.
All that being said despite all the stats, all the hurries and all the quarterbacks who live in fear of Wake, his pears only voted him the 89th best player in the NFL. 89th behind Aldon Smith who finished 7th, JJ Watt who finished 5th and more disturbingly behind Suh who finished 40th. Wake finished behind Aldon Smith by 3.5 sacks last year but you could make the argument on a play by play basis it was Wake who caused more disruption in the back field.
Wake finally received some respect from EA Sports who rated the pass rushing beast 97 in their recent edition of Madden.
Where do you rank Cam Wake on the list of NFL pass rushers? Where do you rank Cam Wake amongst the elite defensive players in this league? Let us know in the comments or on twitter on twitter @Phins_Phocus.
