This Isn’t A Joke: C’s beat Warriors At Oracle

Fifty four straight victories at Oracle Arena was a unbelievable feat in itself. One team ended the streak last night, The Boston Celtics.

Steph Curry missed the game tying 3 pointer and the C’s ended he historic streak, but the Warriors still have the opportunity to tie or pass the ’95 Chicago Bulls record of 72 wins.

Defense wins games and it certainly showed in Friday night’s showdown. The C’s held Golden State down to 106 points, which for them is a low performance, and the Warriors had 22 turnovers, which won’t get you anywhere in any game. Although Golden State shot 46% from behind the three point arc, the all around performance of the Celtics stuck around with Golden State the entire game and it eventually gave them the outcome they did not want. This game was not a blowout of any kind but the Warriors played solid basketball but couldn’t contain the scrappy C’s. Curry scored 29 points in 37 minutes while sidekick Klay Thompson scored 15 points in 37 minutes. The spread offense the Warriors run and the deep threat shooting just fell short as the 54 game home winning streak has snapped.

This is a huge win for the C’s in the division run and to make a statement to the NBA. Isaiah Thomas led the balanced C’s with 22 points and 6 assists while Evan Turner and Jared Sullinger added 21 and 20 points respectively. The scrappy C’s not only played extremely great basketball but everyone else around the NBA looks at the Celtics and thinks this team has what it takes to go far into the playoffs with gritty basketball.

Next game for C’s is Sunday, April 3rd @ Lakers at 9:30 pm et
