J.P. Nisby Halloween Challenge.

First a little update, for those that don’t know J.P. is proving himself to be a Boise Man, by continuing his education at Boise State preparing to graduate this spring with a communication Major all of Bronco Nation should be proud of how he has since conducted himself. Everyone makes mistakes its how they learn from them that matters most.

J.P. being a good sport last night before he went under the knife this morning in Vail Colorado, (so you all put him in your prayers for a quick recovery.) approved of the below video of his Halloween challenge. The mere fact that he has done this shows great humility.

Good luck J.P on your recovery and may you achieve your dreams.

Charles Hayes The III most improved player over 2010

I don’t know if you folks have noticed but Mr. Hayes who wasn’t a starter in the Georgia game and who was moved into action due to injury has been playing flawless ball all year. At times it seemed coach Pete was trying to play anyone but Chuck, but time and again Charles has been in there at the end.

For and offensive guard playing at 288, Charles sure has one of the leanest bodies you’ll ever see in an offensive linemen, but when one considers the difference between a 300lbs’er and Charles is only 12 lbs. one has to ask how much more real power and speed have over the heifer’s we are used to seeing play guard in any college.  In the TCU game as I have become more interested in watching Charles play a little more closely in the 70 plays Boise State ran against TCU Charles was only out of position once! That is flat out outstanding no one is supposed to be so near perfect.

Throughout the season Thus far Charles has shown speed in down field blocking and power off the line. His speed into the second level of defenses is one of the most valuable commodities in an offensive lineman and to do it with power and strength.

I know I haven’t herd word one in regards to Charles on any draft boards and I don’t know if Charles has thought much about it. ESPN page on Chuck shows you nothing of what he has accomplished this year coming off the bench I believe he’s played in every game this year , and I also believe he’s started all but the Georgia game is one of those players the Boise State haters take for granted when they say they can’t hang in a SEC schedule and while many might attempt to use the TCU game as an example I would like to point out maybe only 1 or 2 teams that will play in a BCS bowl will have an undefeated recorded all they others will have 1 or more loss only Boise State and other non AQ school have the pressure of being undefeated to get to a ball room dance so take they can’t win all some where’s else because Charles is a clear example of the quality depth that exists at Boise State, and maybe just maybe Chuck has played his way in to the hearts of a NFL scout out there only time will tell but for me Chuck Hayes has shown himself to be a key part of this team and that just wasn’t something any of us thought would happen before this season kicked off.

George Iloka can not only play ball but the Piano as well

George Iloka the back bone of the Boise State Defensive secondary it would appear from this captured video is multifaceted as well. Clearly Mr. Iloka has diverse interest and one appears to be in the classics.

We would like to encourage this Boise State great who has performed at a high level on the field since his arrival to continue his practice even though this writer believes he is off to a long and bright NFL career after he’s done at Boise State. Coo Doo’s to you Sir.

Three recruits that could have a big impact

Nick Patti, Ben Weaver & Chris Santini

Starting with Ben Weaver who had offers from a host of AQ schools, he brings a plethora of skills with Tevis and Hout departing next year there is going to be some battles to gain playing time across the board, as coach Pete is never afraid of playing a young guy when you look back you see Billy Winn, Iloka and Kellen Moore to play as either freshmen or redshirt freshmen, Ben will certainly have a chance I won’t for now address who is on the team he will be battling now , but I believe this young man is a different type of animal that Boise State has brought in to play the two Line Back middle set, he’s big at 6’1” 235 lbs and those stats are a year old so I’m sure he’s added a little on his frame since with conflicting 40 numbers  4.71 to 4.81 still good numbers for a guy playing in the middle where having the ability to shed blockers and read lanes is more valuable than a .10 of a second 40 times.

Watching the young man on film he certainly seems to play with the same style of Tevis who has been an outstanding LB for Boise State, the real question will be will coach red shirt him or even try to with the NCCA violation over the next three years one has to wonder if we can make a living at the LB position doing so with the departure of both Hout and Tevis this year.

Next up Chris Santini many would look at his number 6’1” 208 lbs.  5.0  40? And think I’m crazy for what I’m about to say this young man will play his freshmen year, keep one thing in mind when it comes to these numbers, 1 they are old 2 numbers do sometimes lie watch the below video and tell me if the young man you see there looks 208 lbs. and as slow as 5.0.

Yeah me to beast!! If you read his recruit page you can see he was recruited as a Safety and if his 40’s improve certainly he could help fill the huge whole that is going to be left by Iloka’s departure for the NFL. Certainly if anything he could be the Doug Martin version of converting to a full back, but I digress I just don’t see how a young man with his ability is kept off the field next year, time will tell.

Nick Patti,

Grant Hedrick , Jimmy Laughrea, and Joe Southwick will have a lot to say about who plays when next season make no bones about it Boise State is loaded at QB and both Grant and Joe have real game experience.  Following Kellen Moore would be a nightmare for anyone as well Nick’s numbers look well Kellen like when it comes to size but when it comes to speed Nick is 4.5 40 CB speed and the word coming back to Boise is Nick has had a growth spurt and is now 6’1” and growing and from the pick of him at the TCU game it was clear he’s grown as he towers over his dad and brother. Make no mistake Nick Patti is the future of Boise State QB position the only question is when. I’ve been following Nick closely since before he verbal catching all I can from him and if I can say if you haven’t heard this young man speak, let me assure you we are getting one sharp young man and the beautiful thing about him as anyone can say all the right things he does so in such a believable way. Nick leaves no doubt that he is genuine and his play on the field this year his senior year at Dr Phillip’s he’s showing he is the class of the State of Florida which is saying quit a lot. Certainly all future QB’s at Boise State will be compared to Kellen Moore or at least that is the belief, Nick my very well break that mold and if he does start in his true freshmen year it will be the first step in doing so, as Kellen was red shirted but even if he doesn’t the pressure he will put on Joe, Jimmy and Grant will do nothing but improve the team so just by his showing up on campus Nick Patti is going to have an impact on next season.
