It seemed we might never get to see Jakob Forsbacka-Karlsson take the ice in an NHL game for the Bruins this year due to work visa issues. But tonight Bruins General Manager Don Sweeney announced that Forsbacka-Karlsson has received immigration approval from the United States Immigration and is now an active roster player. This means he is now eligible to play in games for the Bruins.
It took just about a week to resolve the issue but now it is over. Hopefully, we will get to see him make his NHL debut Saturday afternoon in the Bruins final game of the regular season vs. the Capitals.
20-year-old Jakob Forsbacka-Karlsson is from Stockholm, Sweeden where he lived before coming to Boston to attend and play for Boston university. Forsbacka-Karlsson has now been in Boston for two years playing for Boston University where he recorded 24 goals and 63 points in 78 games.
