Jason Witten Closing in on NFL Milestone

Kawhi vs Mavs Game 4

Jason Witten is one of only three players known as Parcells’ Guys still on the Cowboys roster (Romo and Ladouceur, the other two), so you know he’s been here a long time, but it’s also a testament to his durability and dependability.

Witten is closing in on a NFL Milestone when it comes to tight ends. Last season he passed Shannon Sharpe to become the 2nd tight end with the most receptions in NFL history. After Sunday’s game against the Saints, Witten came closer to another record and that is 10,000 yards for a tight end. Witten is currently sitting at 9,955 yards, so he’s just 45 yards away from being the third tight end in history to reach 10,000 yards.

It’s matter of when and not if until Witten will pass the milestone and likely move into 2nd place for receiving yards amongst tight ends. Tony Gonzalez still holds all the tight end records in receptions (1325) and yards (15,127)

Do you think Witten can catch Gonzalez? I wrote more about that and you can read about it here. It may take a few more seasons, but it can be done. Hopefully, we can get Witten his Super Bowl ring before that happens.
