Josh Norman to appeal ‘bow-and-arrow’ celebration fine

Washington Redskins cornerback Josh Norman will square off with the NFL in the appeal process over a fine he received for a celebration.

Norman picked off a pass against the Cleveland Browns and busted out the following bow-and-arrow celebration:

Not bad. The NFL disagreed, though, and hit Norman with a $10,000 fine.

Per John Keim of ESPN.com, Norman will hit the appeal process in earnest:

Norman was penalized 15 yards for his celebratory act Sunday, when he ran near the sideline to “shoot” the bow and arrow. He said after the game he had been warned about doing it before a previous game. But, Norman said, because it was a different officiating crew, he thought he’d get a warning first instead of a flag.

“I don’t get it,” Norman said. “I might have to ask fans what can I do next if they take that away from me.”

The league, as expected, has taken plenty of heat for the decision to fine Norman. Players feel like they aren’t going over the top and most fans seem to agree.

Stay turned for an update on the appeal process. For better or worse, it could set a precedent for how strict the league will be with celebrations moving forward.
