Key injuries starting to mount for the Dolphins

The Miami Dolphins today are licking their collective wounds.  Since Monday in the NFL is a day of watching film for the quarterback and other players, some players are spending the majority of their time in the training room.

Today, unfortunately, many reports surfacing are confirming the season-ending loss to of Brandon Gibson.  Gibson left the second quarter after catching his first pass for a touch down and then leaping up to grab another after hurting his knee.  It's a sad loss for the Dolphins since Gibson, 3TD catches, 30 receptions, and 326 yards receiving was well on his way to an awesome and productive season after being projected to finish with close to 1,000 yards.

For the Dolphins, on a short week, finding a replacement for Gibson will be difficult.  For now a stop-gap measure is including second year wide out Rishard Matthews in the game plan and using him on third down situations and in the red zone as Gibson was so frequently targeted.  In addition, look for the Dolphins to try out some players as soon as today or take a player from another team's practice squad.

Heading into Thursday night's game versus Cincinnati, the Dolphins must be prepared to get all of their receivers involved and fill the void that is the loss of Brandon Gibson who for the Dolphins was a key cog in their wide receiving arsenal.
