According to an AP Sports report made this morning, through Yahoo! Sports, the Dolphins might be keeping head coach Joe Philbin and firing GM Jeff Ireland and offensive coordinator Mike Sherman.  http://sports.yahoo.com/news/ap-source-dolphins-owner-mulling-162046265–nfl.html

Approximately an hour after this report, Ryan Wilson of CBS Sports just posted a report that Philbin could possibly stay on as head coach after two seasons of 7-9, and 8-8 records.  http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/eye-on-football/24394479/report-dolphins-owner-stephen-ross-mulling-possible-shakeup

Both reports show that the Dolphins owner Stephen Ross has been in meetings since Sunday and that Ross is mulling a possible organizational shake up.  The meetings could conclude by Thursday with a statement made by Stephen Ross either Thursday or Friday.

One thing is clear, only Stephen Ross as the owner can decide whether he wants to fire anyone namely the head coach, GM, and assistant coaches.  Surely, if Joe Philbin is retained as the head coach, he will be given one more chance to turn things around, and not just a winning record, but coaching the Dolphins to a playoff berth next season.

For the Dolphins owner Stephen Ross, the ball is in his court and doing the right thing after conferring with his team of advisors to make the right decision will be critical in putting the Dolphins in the best position to succeed in 2014.
