LeGarrette Blount is a Huge [unemployed] Baby

Quick note before I get to work on the game recap.

LeGarrette Blount is a Huge [unemployed] Baby

LeGarrette Blount bailed on the team last night in Tennessee. On a night when the running game was infallible, Le’Veon Bell was having a career night charging up the middle, over and around defenders and generally willing the Steelers to win.

Well apparently that isn’t good enough for LeGarrette Blount, who, according to Ed Bouchette, left the game early last night because he wasn’t getting enough carries. That’s not even okay to do in high school, much less the National Football League. According to Bouchette, at least one player thought they should leave him in Nashville, while others have been quietly pressing for his release for a few weeks now because of his attitude.

Blount came into the league with questions about his character. He hasn’t been a criminal during his time in the NFL, but he never did dispel those questions either. After being presumably reformed by the New England Patriots, the Steelers may have been his last chance to prove himself to the NFL. I think it’s safe to say he proved himself last night. And that’s why he was unceremoniously released with barely a sentence’s worth of notice on the team’s official site.

Obviously, quitting on your team because you aren’t the superstar didn’t fly with the Steelers, nor should it with any team. Blount apparently wanted it to be all about him, and that’s a great way to get yourself out of the NFL.

At least now we don’t have to watch him return kickoffs anymore. The Steelers will probably pick up another running back off the street, where running backs are certainly plentiful. I wonder what Najeh Davenport is up to?
