Panthers safety Eric Reid once played alongside Colin Kaepernick on the 49ers, and he has remained supportive of his former teammate since that time.
It’s unclear if Kaep will ever make it back in the NFL, as each season that passes makes it more difficult, but Reid has come out and said he hopes the quarterback will get a shot multiple times.
He even rocked some civil rights-themed cleats for Monday’s game against the Saints, as part of the “My Cleats My Cause” initiative. They show the likeness of Kaep, Martin Luther King Jr. and others, with “I know my rights” written on them, among other things.
My cleats for tonight. Much thanks and appreciation to the artist @2cent_bmike. Here’s his take on the inspiration behind his design, “It’s a tribute to the history of protest , centered around the quote “if not us , who? If not now, when? “ meaning we all benefit and stand on… pic.twitter.com/x9PNkmwTK0
