Los Angeles Lakers PG Steve Nash became the fifth player in NBA history to record 10,000 career assists with a second-quarter dime to Antawn Jamison, joining the exclusive club with John Stockton, Jason Kidd, Mark Jackson, and Magic Johnson.
Nash has established himself as one of the best point guards in NBA history and adds yet another milestone to his already storied career.
The Santa Clara product has been one of the few bright spots for the Lakers this season as the team has fallen far short of expectations, posting a mediocre 15-18 record, good enough for only the 11th spot in the Western Conference.
One of the things that must improve for Los Angeles is their success on the defensive end as they have allowed 100.8 PPG this season, the fifth-worst mark in the NBA.
It remains to be seen whether the Lakers will be able to turn their season around, however with injuries to Dwight Howard and Pau Gasol, as well as the system head coach Mike D’Antoni employs putting the emphasis on offense, Los Angeles needs to make quick and possibly dramatic strategy adjustments to be able to contend this season.
