The Los Angeles Rams look to be building a new wall around QB Jared Goff and adding some new weapons, fans are hoping to address the weak offensive problem even more in the 2017 NFL Draft, but what if the Rams organization flips the switch and goes defense first. Let me introduce you to Cordrea Tankersley.
If the opportunity is there, the Los Angeles Rams might surprise others and select a defensive back in the 2nd round. Incoming Trumaine Johnson’s new best friend.

Going offense would not surprise me, and is perhaps the popular assumption of what Los Angeles will do here. However, the Los Angeles Rams may find another Trumaine Johnson in the draft.

Like Johnson, Tankersley has the length and movement skills to play both press or off coverage and that all-around game adds a versatile element that doesn’t limit the defensive play call.
Tankersley possesses a strong skill set for a cornerback prospect. He’s able to balance aggressive playmaking talent with the reliability to prevent big plays, picking his moments to decisively change games.
Has the size to press at the line of scrimmage. Ideal for a press-man scheme, length facilitates effective jams at the line of scrimmage.
Moves well for his size, allowing him to play multiple coverages. Strong in man coverage, possesses incredible instincts and change-of-direction skills.
Trumaine will play this season under the tag in what will basically be a well paid tryout. The Rams are not entirely sold on what they have in Johnson. So while we are in wait-and-see mode with the star corner, I would want to bring in a young Tankersley to groom.
Yes the Los Angeles Rams have EJ Gaines and Kayvon Webster, but if the opportunity is there to build a great defensive back crew, the Rams may pull the surprise trigger.
