A.J. in L.A. may be picking up momentum.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport tweeted that the Chicago Bears are not expected to put the franchise tag on wide receiver Alshon Jeffery, leaving him a viable free agent for the Los Angeles Rams to consider (h/t RamblinFan.com).

Jeffery, the sixth-year receiver who played just 12 games last season, had his fewest receptions in four years with 52 in Chicago, for 821 yards. His two touchdown receptions marked the lowest single-season output of his career.
He also has missed 11 games over the last two seasons with the Bears, as injuries have contributed to his limited production.
Before that, Jeffery had a couple of monster seasons playing alongside Brandon Marshall in Chicago. Jeffery averaged 87 receptions for 1,277 yards and 8.5 touchdowns from 2013-14.
Jeffery signed a one-year deal worth $14,599,000 to stay with the Bears in 2016, according to Sportrac. The Rams might not be able to offer him top dollars, but they likely can give him No. 1 receiver status in Los Angeles. With Kenny Britt and Brian Quick unlikely to return, via turfshowtimes.com, the team just about can guarantee a lot of passes coming his way in 2017.
The the offensive-minded direction of the new coaching staff under Sean McVay, Jeffery could be a huge benefactor and become the toast of Hollywood, a much warmer destination than the Windy City.
A Jeffery signing also would generate a lot of interest about the new direction the team wants to go.
