In what has been known as a place to find surprisingly talented quarterbacks and skill position guys, our list of the MAC’s top prospects for the 2011 NFL draft seem more defensive, with only one offensive player, a guard.
Still, however, guys towards the top of the list have a chance to really make an impact in the 2010 college football season and could go on to be top tier draft picks by season’s end.
1. Davonte Shannon, Safety, Buffalo
–Almost left early last season, he’s a hard hitter with the speed and instincts to play both free and strong safety in the pros.
2. Amara Kamara, Linebacker, Temple
-Team leader and versatile linebacker, if he can show he can be a consistent tackler all year, he could be a late riser.
3. Nick Bellore, Inside Linebacker, Central Michigan
-Very productive and moves surprisingly well, Bellore will need a great season without much talent around him.
4. Justin Winters, Linebacker, Buffalo
-Plays well in space and can be a solid cover linebacker, he needs to show the ability to blitz and better instincts.
5. Domonic Cook, Cornerback, Buffalo
-Athletic with good size, Cook will get a chance to thrive with great safety play around him, but lack of good offenses hurts.
6. Colin Madison, Offensive Guard, Temple
-Good size and technique, if he can show he can pull effectively and hold quicker defensive tackles, he could soar up boards.
7. Noah Keller, Inside Linebacker, Ohio
–Another productive and consistent linebacker, he’ll need to show better athletic ability if he hopes to get drafted.
8. Elisha Joseph, Outside Linebacker, Temple
-Hasn’t been able to be a consistent 3-down linebacker, if he can stay on the field and play in coverage, he could rise with Kamara.
9. Bobby Seay, Safety, Central Michigan
-With cornerbacks and safeties leaving the Chippewas in recent years, he’ll be the best player in a weak secondary, which could hurt.
10. Harrison Porter, Linebacker, Western Michigan
-Another linebacker playing with lackluster talent, he needs to fight through blocks a little better and not get lost within the box.
