So far there will be two new names in the record book of fastest times completing the Boston Marathon as Manuela Schar of Switzerland won the marathon with a time of 1 hour 28 minutes and 17 seconds. That beats the previous record set in Japan in 2011. Schar beat the record by 5 minutes and 49 seconds.
But Schar would not be the only record breaker Marcel Hug of South Africa also defended his title with a record breaking preformance of 1 hour and 18 minuites and 3 seocnds.
Both Schar and Hug earned $20,000 for the win, $10,000for the new records and $7,500 for the new course records.
