According to multiple reports, former Washington Huskies guard Markelle Fultz is scheduled to meet with the Boston Celtics on Monday. Fultz is expected to meet with coaches and team executives first and then participate in a workout at the Celtics’ practice facility on Tuesday.

On May 30, ESPN’s Jeff Goodman reported that Fultz and Celtics President of Basketball Operations Danny Ainge “had multiple conversations” after Boston won the #1 overall pick at the NBA Draft Lottery just a few weeks ago. Before the Celtics were awarded the top spot in the draft, Fultz had engaged in conversations with former UW Huskie, Isaiah Thomas on the possibility of playing together.

“I’ve talked to him a lot,” Fultz said, according to reporting from Sports Illustrated‘s Andrew Sharp. “We always talk about the opportunity. That would be the craziest backcourt. The way he scores, the way I can pass, and the way I can score… we can switch between the 1 and 2.”

News of this meeting comes as a surprise to nobody as it it widely expected that Boston is planning on drafting Fultz at #1 overall. This is the first time in franchise history that the Celtics will have the first pick heading into the draft. According to Fultz, it would be a dream to hear his name called first.

“I want to be the No. 1 pick really bad. It’s been a dream of mine since I was a little kid, and I feel like I would fit well in Boston.”

The NBA Draft will take place on Thursday, June 22nd.
