Martellus Bennett Doesn’t Plan to Visit White House If Patriots Win Super Bowl

If come Sunday night the Patriots hoist the Lombardi Trophy, don’t expect Martellus Bennett to make the trip to the White House to celebrate.

The Patriots tight end made his voice heard Monday night during the New England media session and didn’t hold back when asked if he would visit Washington. According to reports from Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press, Bennett said that he “most likely” wouldn’t join the team on the trip because he doesn’t support who is in the White House.

Over the weekend, President Trump signed an executive order that banned immigrants from entering the country if they were traveling from seven particular countries. As a result, protests popped up at several airports across the United States. Those involved claim that the ban is unconstitutional and that the Trump Administration is diminishing human rights.

Bennett took to Twitter to voice his opinions regarding the new immigration restrictions:

It may sound strange for a player to not visit the White House honoring a world championship, but this wouldn’t be the first time for the Patriots. After defeating the Seahawks two years ago in Super Bowl XLIX, Tom Brady didn’t join the team to Washington. For Brady, along with Belichick and Robert Kraft, questions regarding Trump are an everyday occurrence. All three typically deflect such questions and keep things non-political.

It’s a business trip for the Patriots, nothing more.
