Uh-oh. Credit to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette for digging out this fun story:
…after further examination, it was determined Pouncey also has a broken bone in his ankle. His left foot and ankle were encased in a hard cast that replaced a walking boot. Pouncey has been using crutches to get around but has not been available to the media this week at the team’s training facility.
Sources told the Post-Gazette that while there is a broken bone, damage to the ligaments in his ankle remains the major stumbling block for him.
This sucks for a lot of reasons. It sucks that Pouncey won’t be able to play in his first Super Bowl. It sucks that he won’t end his amazing year on the field with his teammates. And it sucks that an already poor offensive line is losing it’s best player.
The worst part, though, is feeling that this injury might be what tips Super Bowl XLV in the Packers favor next Sunday.
So frustrating.
Excuse me while I go throw up for the next two hours.
