MLS Mascot Competition – Quarterfinals

The first round of our MLS Mascot Competition was a great success as fans voted for their favorite mascots. Congrats to Crew Cat of the Columbus Crew, Cozmo of the LA Galaxy, Leo the Lion of Real Salt Lake, Timber Joey of the Portland Timbers, Blue of Sporting Kansas City, and Talon of DC United on winning in the first round. Now we add the two mascots who had a bye in the first round and begin the quarterfinals. Voting for the quarterfinal round will end Monday at midnight so support your team and get the word out to vote for your favorite mascot.

Here are the quarterfinal round matchups in the Total-MLS Mascot Competition.

Match 1: Crew Cat (Columbus Crew) vs Cozmo (Los Angeles Galaxy)

Crew Cat takes on Cozmo in the first of our quarterfinal round matchups. Crew Cat, who is nicknamed “America’s Hardest Working Mascot”, is a cat that wears a Crew uniform and a yellow hard hat. Cozmo is a frog extraterrestrial who was beamed down to the HDC in 2003.

Match 2: Leo the Lion (Real Salt Lake) vs Marco, Edson, Jorge, and Franz (Colorado Rapids)

The second matchup is a battle of Rocky Mountain rivals with Leo the Lion taking on Marco, Edson, Jorge, and Franz. Leonardo, Leo for short, is a lion who is also an artist. He was born in Arches National Park. The Rapids have four mascots and we have included them as a group. Marco is a bison, Edson is an eagle, Jorge is a raccoon, and Franz is a fox.

Match 3: Timber Joey (Portland Timbers) vs Blue (Sporting Kansas City)

The third quarterfinal is between two heavy hitters who received a lot of support in the first round. Timber Joey may not be a mascot in the sense that he wears an animal costume but he may be the favorite in the competition due to his recent popularity. Joey can be seen cutting big circles off a log each time the Timbers score a goal. Blue is the new mascot for Sporting KC this season. He is a black dog but little else is known about him.

Match 4: Talon (DC United) vs Tex Hooper (FC Dallas)

Talon takes on Tex Hooper in the final quarterfinal match up. Talon is an eagle named after the claw but he is not a mean bird. He apparently enjoys hugging fans. Hooper is a bull who wears a full FC Dallas uniform with the jersey number 96.
