The Impact have begun their debut MLS season with a record of 0-1-1 through their first two games. They lost at Vancouver 2-0in week one and played to a 1-1 draw in front of 58,000+ at Olympic Stadium last weekend against the Chicago Fire.
Montreal will be heading to Columbus this weekend to take on the Crew. Kickoff is set for 4 PM eastern from Crew Stadium. It matches up one of the leagues oldest teams (in the Crew) with the MLS’ youngest squad (in Montreal).
The Impact took ex-Crew defender Josh Gardner in the 2011 MLS Expansion draft and it will be his first time heading back to Columbus. He has played every minute of each of the Impact’s first two games. Gardner tailed two goals and two assists in his 2011 campaign.
Montreal has averaged 22 shots and 7.5 of those on goal in their first two games. While on the other hand, Columbus only managed 5 shots and 3 of those were on target in their first and only game thus far.
I’m interested to see if the Impact can get a goal early, stun the home crowd (who is excited as it’s the Crew’s first home game of the 2012 campaign) and steal the three points. We will all know the answer to that around 6 PM eastern on Saturday. Happy MLS soccer watching to all this weekend!
