MUNSON AND TONTO RIDE OFF (FOR 2011 ANYWAY)

Here’s a mix of potpourri, ad hoc observations, whimsy, bullshit-hey, wait; I’m describing my whole life (TONTO nods).

1)      I hate Dennis Erickson, so was glad to see it was his fuck up that led to THE TURNING POINT (good album by John Mayall BTW-“Room to Move” comes off it, plus the haunting, elegiac “ California”).  Saw Dennis do a great big yawn to in the 1st quarter. I don’t think he was drunk, but damn he looked like he’d been  given a Quaalude enema.

2)      This was our last look at the late-2000 Broncos. By that I mean the team we saw last night has been, more or less, the team we’ve had since  ’08. I’m oversimplifying, and I do not just mean Kellen. But next year’s team will be  a whole new era. More later. (TONTO: oomph-he’s out for an Apache Xmas party).

3)       Knew when we went up 49-10 that there’s be some cheap TDs given up, and there were. Didn’t matter, but that makes what? 5 games where the score could’ve looked  a lot better, and should have.

4)      Back to #1, years from now people will look at that score and think it was a walk away. They won’t know that Devils had: 1) opened 2nd half with TD return, gotten 2 turnovers (one on a center exchange-shades of Oregon II) , and were 1st and goal having made it 28-10. A score then, and 28-17, with the talent ASU had-it could have been a far different night.

5)      Our whole D is gone next year. Look at the depth chart going in to last night’s game. Now on O we’re a whole lot better-except we lose the greatest QB in our (maybe anybody’s) history, best lineman, best RB, best TE, most prolific WR (maybe not our best; man, Matt Miller is the best thing out of Montana since buffalo steak); other than that, not a lot to worry about.

6)      Really, that about wraps it up. Gotta’ be honest here; haven’t felt it since we lost to TCU. Once we lose a game, really there’s not much difference in whether we lose 2 or 3, even 4; just slightly shittier bowl games. And I think it will be easier to pimp us if they do away with the AQ- I think then the SEC will get 3 teams in, maybe four, and the other major conferences will grab the rest. Jesus-Merry Christmas; guess I should have said Happy Birthday.
