Sports history was made in Washington, D.C. and across the DMV on Friday night. For the first time, there was pseudo-live betting on a broadcast. With the Wizards hosting the Milwaukee Bucks, NBC Sports Washington introduced a new method for fans to potentially win $500. To make it even better for fans entering to play, it was free of charge.

They would ask questions such as:

  1. Will the Wizards be leading with five minutes left in the first quarter?
  2. Will the total score at halftime be odd or even?
  3. Thomas Bryant has reached double digits in seven of his last 10 games, will he tonight?
  4. Which team will be the first to get to 50?
  5. Which team will be first to score 75 points?
  6. Which team will be first to 25 rebounds?
  7. Which team will hit the next three-pointer?
  8. Will Tomas Satoransky score more than 20 points tonight?
  9. Will the score at the end of the third quarter be odd or even?
  10. Which team will be first to score 100 points?

The game was broadcasted on dual channels, with NBC Sports Washington showing the regular game broadcast while NBC Sports Washington-Plus showed the interactive “Predict the Game” broadcast. Real-time stats were on display on the side of the screen, the question presented at the bottom of the screen along with the usual game feed featuring Steve Buckhantz and Kara Lawson’s call.

Fans could watch on TV, stream on their computer or mobile device via the MyTeams app while answering the questions during the game. This feature will be available for seven more broadcasts this season. The future of viewing games certainly looks bright.
