In a game with maybe the fewest NFL prospects in it, the “Beef O’Brady’s Bowl” features two of the best non-BCS prospects in the country. Non-BCS prospects have begun to creep up in the draft, from Joe Flacco at #18 to potentially this year having one of the two players in this draft or a junior defensive tackle from Memphis possible crack the Top 15.
It won’t be a battle of elite talent, but it could come down to which team wins the battle when Marshall’s on defense and FIU on offense.
1. Vinny Curry, DE, Marshall
One of the premier rushers in this draft, Curry will need to showcase his versatility one final time his career, as well as hopefully show his lateral movement ability for him to be a potential 3-4 outside rusher and one that can change direction at a starter level.
2. TY Hilton, WR, Florida International
Hilton is one of the most explosive and dynamic offensive weapons in the country, and his return ability and open field moves are enough to warrant NFL consideration. But it’s also his down the field route running and separation in the short area that could make him an elite slot receiver in the NFL.
3. Wesley Carroll, QB, Florida International
Carroll doesn’t have the ideal arm strenght or size, but he consistently places the ball well across the field, especially in his touch in the middle of the field. If he can really get after a solid Marshall defense and show the ability to react to the pressure and place the ball across the field, he could warrant a UDFA signing.
4. Jonathan Faucher, TE, Florida International
Well-built, short area, athletic tight end, Faucher is a weapon for this offense. Though he’s a fringe NFL prospect, he could have a chance as an H-Back based on his size and short area route running.
