David Ortiz has done it; number 500 has been hit tonight in Tampa Bay, Florida! Ortiz will now join the elite club of players who have hit over 500 career home runs. It has taken 19 years in the league for Ortiz to reach this accomplishment. He will now be on the same list as baseball greats such as Babe Ruth, Willie Mays, and Hank Aaron. Ortiz also hit another milestone with his 500th home run as he now has 50 career multi home run games. This should be the icing on the cake for Ortiz’s hall of fame resume as he will go down as the best designated hitter to ever play the game of baseball.
