Patriots Clinch Playoff Spot with 27 to 6 Victory

It was all fun in games last night in Houston as the Texans never really put up a big fight against the Pats. The Pats can now clinch the AFC East with a Dolphins loss tonight.

It was a win but it was another night of injuries as Devin McCourty (right ankle), LeGarrette Blount (left hip), Dominique Easley (left thigh) and Jonathan Freeny (hand) all left the game early and did not return. Freeny is the only injury update we have and it is his hand is not broken and he will be back soon.

Gronk was back in the lineup and playing last night and he finished the night with four catches for 87 yards and a touchdown. He was quick to say the touchdown was good but the “win was the icing on the cake.”

Bill Belichick was very proud of his team saying “we played solid in all 3 phases” of the game. Just one objection to this and that would be the fumbled punt. But other than that yak it was a good game. It would have been better if he said “we played solid in 2 phases of the game and we need to work the other.”

Martin was the one who fumbled the punt. The first thing that ran though my head was Edelman would have caught it. Martin scares me with punts; just fair catch the ball and I will be just as happy as if you ran it up a full 2 yards.

Tom Brady was very impressed on how his defense has been playing lately saying “you have to play to your strengths and certainly the defense the last four of five weeks has been incredible.” It is hard after last night’s game to criticize the deference they played great yet again.

This was a very important win. Belichick said his usual “Every week is a big week in the NFL” thing but this was a big win for the Pats.
