Patriots Roll Over Jaguars

The Jaguars did not put up much of a fight against Tom Brady and the New England Patriots as the Patriots made it look easy in their 51- 14 win. In this game the Patriots would have no need to punt as every drive ended in a touchdown or a field goal. Tom Brady made the Jaguars defense look weak as he would run march down the field earning his 400th career touchdown pass in the first quarter.

Bill Belichick was very pleased with the Patriots play he had this to say about the game: “it was a good win today. I thought our team really came out and played well. We had a good week of practice, and I thought a lot of that carried over into the game. We got a lot of plays from each unit – offense, defense, special teams – so it was a good complementary game. We were able to take advantage of some good field position offensively. And defensively getting off to a good start, they were getting the ball for the offense right away; it was good. I thought our special teams, even though it wasn’t a punting game for us, we had some plays in the punt return, stopped a fake punt, Steve [Gostkowski] kicked the ball well. So, it was a good overall team effort. I’m proud of the way they practiced, prepared and played today.”

Belichick had no hesitation when it came to the secondary mixing in a lot of different players, when asked about how they performed he responded: “We’ll look at the film. I’m sure there are some things that we need to improve on. But a lot of players played today – a lot of guys in the secondary, linebackers, the guys in the front, the backs, the receivers, all the tight ends. I think all our linemen played, so we had a lot of people contribute, a lot of people played, so it was good to get those contributions from everyone. It was a good team win.”

Then of course there was the man of the game Tom Brady who entered the 400 club with his second quarter touchdown pass to Danny Amendola. The touchdown pass sent Gillette Stadium into a frenzy and a deafening Brady chant broke out in the crowd. Brady had this to say about joining the 400 club: “It was a good day, so it’s fun to be out there. I think everyone enjoyed it. It was a good performance by our offense, a good team win. It was a good week of practice. A lot of guys made plays, so I was happy. It was a great day out there for football.” Brady will not be able to keep the ball thought as Amendola handed it off to a fan after the touchdown. That did not bother Brady as he went on to say “I don’t care. It’s just a ball. But I had a lot of fun. Danny can do whatever he wants, so he made a great catch.”

The Patriots will now have a week off before heading to Dallas to take on the Cowboys. I am not a big fan of the early bye week but it is what it is and it will be a good week to prepare for the rest of the season.
