It did not take long after allegations of Brandon Spikes being involved in a hit and run accident lead to his release from the New
England Patriots. But the real question was who is going to replace him? It only took a couple of hours for the Patriots to find their new guy. As this afternoon the Patriots singed former Ravens Defensive Back Derek Cox.
Cox is a 6’1, 195 pound Williams and Mary graduate. Cox has 6 years of experience in the NFL playing for the Jaguars for 4 years and Chargers for 1 year. He was drafted by Jacksonville in the third round of the 2009 draft.
He has not played since that 2013 season with the Chargers. In his time playing he has managed to records 37 sacks and 13 interceptions. In between playing for the Chargers and the Patriots Cox spent some time with Minnesota and Baltimore. It will be very interesting to see how Cox does as he has not played in games in some time now. But I would not count him out I see potential in him and I think he could be a big impact player.
