After a day off for the Patriots, there were back on the field in full swing as we are just over a week away from our first pre-season game vs the Jaguars. Today’s practice was a lot of situational football. They practiced a lot of third down plays long and short running and passing.
No new absent players from practice for the Patriots as Duron Harmon and Cody Hollister were both not in attendance again. Danny Amendola, Malcolm Mitchell, and David Jones were all in attendance but yet again did not participate and did special training work with the training staff. day for Jimmy Garoppolo who threw two more interceptions and could’ve had a third that went in and out of the hands of Justin Coleman.
Another dreadful day for Jimmy Garoppolo who threw two more interceptions and could’ve had a third that went in and out of the hands of Justin Coleman. Garoppolo ended the day 11-18, 2 INTs overall, 8-15 2 INTs in 11-on-11. But he was part of the play of the day when Matthew Slater caught a 40-yard TD off a deflection from Garoppolo in 11-on-11.
One of the biggest stories of the day was Edelman and Gilmore getting sent off early after a small fight happened in the end zone. Edelman pushed Gilmore down to the ground after a play. Helmets were ripped off, but no punches were thrown. Belichick has always had a very strict no fighting at practice rule so no surprise both players were sent off even though no punches were thrown.
Elandon Roberts went down with what looked like left ankle/foot injury early in practice. He could barely walk off the field but he got it taped up and returned a brief time later came back and finished the practice. TE James O’Shaughnessy also left practice early with the training staff and did not return.
Brady finished the day throwing 19-28 overall and 16-23 in 11-on-11’s. Brissett finished going 16-31 overall with an interception, and 5-10 in 11-on-11’s.
The Patriots will be back on the field for day 6 of training camp tomorrow. The practice session is open to the public and starts at 9:15 am.
