When Paul Pierce retires at the end of the season, he will do so as a member of the Boston Celtics.
The Los Angeles Clippers forward announced on SiriusXM NBA Radio Wednesday that he will sign with Boston next summer and then retire.

Pierce, 38, started his career in Boston as the 10th overall pick in the 1998 draft. He played 15 seasons with the Celtics, winning a championship in 2008 along with Finals MVP.
Pierce holds the team record for most three-point field goals made and ranks third in games played, second in points scored, seventh in total rebounds, fifth in total assists and first in total steals. He’s also one of only three players who have scored over 20,000 points in their career with the Celtics alone. The other two are Hall of Famers Larry Bird and John Havlicek.
Pierce signed with the Clippers last offseason after brief stints in Brooklyn and Washington. He averaged 6.1 points in 68 games over 18.1 minutes per game last season.
“The Truth” is a sports icon in Boston, so it’s only proper he end his career where it all started.
