You gotta love the offseason, but if you want to laugh at something, then you have to check out Peter King’s offseason power rankings. One being the highest, he has the Cowboys at #13 overall, but the part that will crack you up is who he has above the Cowboys.
For his credit King says:
So let the silly season begin. Let’s rank the teams, 1 to 32. Let’s see how wrong I can be so long before the NFL’s 96th season. (2014 record in parentheses.)
So at #13 King explains the ranking:
13. Dallas (12-4). I keep reading how many great pieces the Cowboys have added to their defense. I don’t see it. But they’re going to win a bunch of 33-27 games, so there’s hope.
Now, for the funny part — he has Kansas at #4 overall, yeah, pretty funny stuff write there. My side hurts. Minnesota #6 overall is pretty funny too.
Let’s look at the teams he had above the Cowboys
- Baltimore
- Seattle
- Green Bay
- Kansas City
- New England
- Minnesota
- Pittsburgh
- Philadelphia
- Denver
- Arizona
- Indianapolis
- Cincinnati
- Dallas
I’m looking at this as objectively as possible, but I would have the Cowboys in the Top 5, that’s a bit more realistic in my opinion. I think the top five would consist of some combination of Seattle, Dallas, Green Bay, New England, Baltimore
I feel pretty good where the Cowboys are offensively; but moreover, on defense we’ll be better in technique and a lot more faster.
What do you think of King’s offseason power rankings? Where would you have the Cowboys right now?
