Polamalu named Defensive Player of the Year

I successfully completed the anti-jinx! In December, I penned a blog post titled “Defensive POY unlikely to be a Steeler.” I thought Troy Polamalu and James Harrison would each get enough votes to put an NFC player at the top when it was all said and done. I was right, as James Harrison finished 3rd in the voting with 8 votes. But Polamalu’s 17 votes were just enough to edge out Clay Matthews who had 15.
