When the Cowboys drafted Anthony Hitchens in May, many saw him as a potentially good backup especially considering the yearly injury history with Sean Lee. Fast forward to November 2014 and Hitchens looks like a full-blown starter to me.
Hitchens is well on his way to becoming an impact player for the Cowboys, and with that being said should Hitchens remain a starter even when Rolando McClain returns to the Mike position?
Sound off, take the poll!
If I’m Dallas, I don’t take Hitchens out of the starting lineup. The lineup could feature Carter, McClain, Hitchens. The emergence of Hitchens will likely mean the Cowboys can let Carter, McClain, and Durant hit free agency in 2015. You could see Hitchens and Lee as the starters and maybe a rookie at the other spot.
Ultimately, I think the Cowboys would prefer to have McClain or Durant back for the right price; if not, the Cowboys could us a draft pick in an early round. We know Dallas had interest in Ryan Shazier before the Steelers snatched him up, so the Cowboys may re-visit that strategy in the offseason.
