POSTGAME: Cavs top Knicks 126-94

Cleveland Cavaliers v New York Knicks

The Cavaliers looked like they knew how to play basketball for the second game in a row, which was really cool. They beat the Knicks 126-94.

Some scribbles from tonight:

  • LeBron James was extremely efficient tonight, especially in the first half. He went to half with 19 points on only seven attempts from the floor. He finished the game with 25 points on 10 total shots. He also threw in six rebounds and seven assists in 32 minutes. He did not get off the bench for the entire final quarter. I can’t remember too many nights throughout LeBron’s career where he was third on his team in field goals attempted, tonight was one of them with Kyrie Irving taking 17 and Kevin Love taking 16.
  • DeAndre Liggins got the start in place of the injured JR Smith. He played relatively well against the Knicks. His game is much different than Smith’s as he only attempted two shots. In similar fashion to Smith, both shots attempted were from three-point range. Liggins hit both shots, finishing with six points. He played just over 20 minutes, and had the second-best plus/minus with a +29.
  • Tristan Thompson finished with a season high 20 rebounds. I do have to admit it was a little odd to see him finish with 20 rebounds and only three points.
  • The game got so out of hand that Kyrie, LeBron and others attempted the water bottle challenge during the fourth quarter. It was just that type of night.
  • The Cavs finished with 22 three-pointers for the third time in a game this season. 23 is the record for most made in a regular season game. 22 three-pointers allowed was the most the New York Knicks have ever allowed.
  • Irving lead the way on the scoring sheet with 28 points. Yet again, the Big 3 all scored 20 plus points.
  • The Cavaliers will be in action again Friday at home against Miami.
