Two of the best teams in their respective conferences are set to square off for the first time this season on Wednesday night, in what figures to be an extremely entertaining matchup.
Everyone had the Warriors penciled in to win their fourth title in five years, whereas the question is who they’d be beating in the NBA Finals. The team encountered a rough stretch, however, when Stephen Curry and Draymond Green were both out of the lineup due to injury. But the Warriors have turned it around, and they’re regaining their dominant form, with DeMarcus Cousins set to make his debut in the coming weeks.
As for the Raptors, they’ve been the league’s biggest surprise, in a good way. The Raptors currently hold the NBA’s best record, at 21-7, and they don’t appear to be slowing down anytime soon. They do come into Wednesday’s game in a rough spot, though, having played the Clippers on Tuesday night. Playing the Warriors on a back-to-back is about as brutal as it gets, and many teams would get blown out in this spot, but the team has continued to defy expectations by playing sound defense and great team basketball under new head coach Nick Nurse.
The Warriors appear to be heating up, having won their last four games, and a victory against the Raptors would be considered a “statement win.” That’s what we’re predicting to happen on Wednesday — the defending champs showing up and defending their home court in a big way.
