Boston Bruins legend Ray Bourque has pleaded not guilty to OUI chargers. Last Friday night at around 11:30 pm Bourque was involved in a car accident when he crashed his Mercedes-Benz into a minivan late Friday night.
Bourque told officer’s on-scene that he had “a few drinks” at the Andover Country Club before heading home. Bourque pleaded not guilty even though his blood came back three times over the legal limit. Bourque’s blood came back as a 0.249 when the legal driving limit is 0.08.
I’m not too sure what defense he lawyers plan on using to get him out of this one. His lawyer refused to comment on the case at this time.
Bourque released the statement below:
For the first time in my life, I find myself in unfamiliar territory. I am not happy about the situation I put myself into on Friday Night. I am a very proud person that accepts the responsibility of my actions and have always accepted being in the media eye. I have used this popularity to try and positively impact as many lives as possible. I am happy that no one was hurt in the accident and thank everyone who has reached out in support of my family and me. Please be patient as I go through this process and respect my family and my privacy. Thank you all for your understanding. Sincerely, Ray.
