As the regular season starts to come to a close David Ortiz’s games are now numbered. With the Red Sox in the lead of the division, a playoff run looks more and more possible. But before we talk playoff the Red Sox have a full weekend planned for David Ortiz.
The Red Sox will celebrate 10-time All-Star and three-time World Series Champion David Ortiz during the final weekend of the regular season. This is also not a throwaway series as it is against currently second place Toronto Blue Jays. It is possible the Divison will be decided on this weekend.
During the series, the Sox will wear a patch on their jerseys and caps in honor of Ortiz’s 14 seasons in a Red Sox uniform.
NESN will air two specials about David Ortiz. “David Ortiz: The Journey” premieres on NESN Friday, September 16th, followed by “The David Ortiz Era,” on Wednesday, September 28th. Can’t wait to see both of these!
All of these festivities are great and he definitely earned them all but I think I know one more thing David Ortiz would like to do just one more time before he retires and the hunt for that starts right after that Blue Jays series.
