The San Francisco 49ers are willing to trade Pro Bowl left tackle Joe Staley for a first-round pick, according to a report by Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk.
Staley, 32, was a first-round pick of the 49ers in 2007 and has started 137 games. He is under contract through 2019.
Florio notes the Minnesota Vikings, New York Giants, Arizona Cardinals, Seattle Seahawks and, “if the 49ers are willing to take whatever they can get,” New England Patriots as teams that have some interest in Staley.
With a 1-6 record this season, the 49ers are expected to be sellers at the Nov. 1 trade deadline. Even though Staley is considered one of the best at his position, it will be some time before the 49ers’ rebuild is complete.
Last season, the Denver Broncos nearly traded a first-round pick for Cleveland Browns left tackle Joe Thomas, so the asking price for Staley is not unreasonable.
The question is: Which team is willing to pay? We’ll find out at the trade deadline.
